Burdekin River - Herveys Range

Burdekin River - is 886klms long at drops 620mtrs over this distance.

Hervey_RangeHerveys Range – (two, three and four day tours),is on Herveys Range on the Herveys Range Road, which joins the inland Gregory Development Road towards Greenvale.

The highest point on Herveys Range is 421 mtrs above sea level and the road is 125 klms long. The trip takes us through the historic town of Charters Towers and takes about 3hrs.

North Queensland Adventure Kayak Tours has exclusive permission from property owners for access through their private property to do the tours.

We do a minimum of three people, to a maximum of eight people per tour.

Along the way there are many different species of animals to see. Including wild pigs, dingoes, many kinds of birds, Eastern Water Dragon (lizard), kangaroos, and if you’re lucky, one or more of four different species of deer.

All you do is paddle down the river for two or three days, and just immerse yourself in nature. The peace and tranquility. There is a number of small rapids to negotiate along the way.

As we are going through working cattle stations, there is the chance to see the workers mustering  or working the cattle in the yards. Where you can get out and get up close to the action.

Fishing is the same throughout the Burdekin River system. If you would prefer to fish with bait, a bag of bait can be supplied.  All fish are released (with the exception of Talapia which is a noxious pest). However, one fish per person may be kept for dinner or breakfast. The guide can even clean and cook the fish for you. Or if you prefer, you can do it all yourself.
